Are COVID-19 Boosters Required for Immigration?

COVID-19 Booster Requirement — Policy Change Effective January 20, 2025
COVID-19 vaccination — including booster doses — is not required for adjustment-of-status applications pending on or after January 20, 2025. This represents a significant change from prior USCIS policy. If your application was pending on or after that date, COVID-19 booster requirements do not apply to your Form I-693.
Other Vaccination Requirements Still Apply
All other USCIS vaccination requirements for Form I-693 remain in effect. Requirements depend on your age, medical history, and current USCIS/CDC guidance. The civil surgeon will review your complete vaccination record at your appointment and advise you on any vaccines needed.
Medical Contraindications to COVID-19 Vaccines
If you have a documented medical contraindication to COVID-19 vaccine — such as a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to a prior COVID-19 vaccine dose or a vaccine component — the civil surgeon can document this on Form I-693 if relevant. Bring documentation of any prior adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccine to your appointment.
