No Minimum Age Exemption

There is no minimum age exemption for the immigration medical examination. Children of any age — including newborns and infants — who are applying for a green card are required to complete the examination. The examination will be tailored to your child's age and developmental stage.

How the Exam Differs by Age Group

While all children must complete the immigration medical examination, the specific components vary by age:

• Infants (under 12 months): physical examination and age-appropriate vaccines; TB testing generally not required
• Toddlers (12 months to 2 years): physical examination, age-appropriate vaccines; TB testing generally not required
• Young children (2 to 4 years): physical examination, age-appropriate vaccines, TB testing may be required based on risk factors
• School-age children (5 to 14 years): physical examination, age-appropriate vaccines, TB testing may be required
• Adolescents (15 and older): follow adult requirements including STD testing and TB testing

Scheduling Your Child's Appointment

When scheduling your child's appointment, please inform our staff of your child's age and vaccination history. This helps us prepare for the appointment and advise you on what to bring.

A parent or legal guardian must accompany all minor children to the appointment. Please bring your child's vaccination records, birth certificate or other identification, and any relevant medical records.
